This post is long overdue. A number of you have reached out to me on Instagram regarding my skin and the products I use. Well it’s finally here, thanks for being patient with me. As a new blogger coming up with engaging posts can be somewhat of a challenge so thank you to the ladies who suggested this post option.
My skincare routine is really quite basic, not too fussy I don’t think. I pretty much use my go to 3 products daily and throw in a facial exfoliator 3 times during the week. Otherwise I pretty much take it as it comes depending on how my skin is reacting. If it’s on the drier side, i’ll switch it up to an oil cleanser to add more moisture that way. I have combination skin. So I have some dry and flaky patches around my mouth and chin, while my “T zone” stays fairly oily. I’m not an expert on what to use for combination skin type but this is what works for me, out of trial and error and just figuring out what my skin likes.
I really do believe that good skin starts as an inside job. What you put into your body will eventually manifest somehow on your skin. I throw in some avocado like 3 times a week minimum in my diet. I love the amazing natural fats found in avocado that I know does wonders for my skin. Another must for me is salmon. I can literally see the results of eating salmon the next couple of days after I’ve had some. It adds a beautiful glow to the skin due to all the omega 3 fatty acids, antioxidants and selenium that protects the skin from sun exposure. I love love LOVE poke bowls, having salmon and avocado together is a skincare match made in heaven and tastes so darn good. Do you guys eat any foods that are great for your skin? Let me know what other foods you like.
I am a big fan of using oils on my skin. Moisturizing is a must! I really pack on the moisture and it helps my skin maintain that glow.
On the days I wear makeup, I use this Caudalie Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil . I use it first to dissolve the make-up before I use another cleanser to deeply clean my skin. It’s 100% natural silky formula is lightweight and easily rubs into the skin.
My go to cleanser is Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Cleanser. I use this pretty much daily to deep clean my skin and tighten my pores. It has 2% glycolic acid in it, which gently exfoliates and retextures skin. The olive oil also cleanses and purifies the pores. This is my go to to keep blemishes at bay and to remove the daily build up of pollutants from my skin.
If my skin is on the drier side. I love to cleanse my face with an oil cleanser. I know it sounds really weird and you would think that putting oil on your skin would cause a breakout, but it doesn’t. It adds a deep level of moisture to my skin and immediately leaves it feeling very supple. This is what works for my combination skin, when it’s on the dry side. I use White & Elm deep pore cleansing oil and it leaves my skin feeling so soft. Read all about it here. They use all 100% natural and organic ingredients in their products. It’s my fav for adding instant moisture.
Like I said before I am a huge fan of using oils. I use them in my cleansers and as well in my moisturizers. It gives my skin such a glow and keeps me looking radiant. I am currently using Tata Harper’s Beautifying Face Oil. I am just loving it. It has Brown Algae Extract in it which helps “turn back the skin’s age clock and reduces the appearance of dullness” as said on her website. The Camellia Flower in it also deeply moisturizes with essential fatty acids. This is an 100% natural and non toxic product.
I find that with oils after awhile my skin will get used to the product so then I’ll switch it up to a different oil to keep my skin radiant. I also really like Tarte’s Maracuja Oil. Maracuja Oil helps to even out the skin complexion due to the vitamin C in it by brightening it up.
I told you that I love moisture right? Well this product is my daily go to. It’s Mario Badescu’s Seaweed Night Cream. Yes night cream. I use it all day because of its richness and it just keeps my skin so hydrated. It’s an “oil-free night cream enriched with seaweed, collagen and hyaluronic acid to soften, hydrate and nourish the skin without clogging pores” as mentioned on Ulta’s website. This is my definite go to for moisturizing.
My skin NEEDS to be exfoliated regularly. Due to my combination skin, it tends to get dry and flaky in some areas. I love and I’m obsessed with these exfoliating facial wipes from m-61. It’s like a mini facial peel on the go. This Power Glow Peel has glycolic and salicylic acid which reduces pore size and improves the skin’s texture. I see results immediately and I can’t rave enough about this product. You have to try it. It’s a skin saver. It does sting a little when you’re using it but nothing crazy at all.
To have that head to toe whole body glow. I use this 100% Natural Coconut Milk Body Scrub to slough away all that dead skin. I love a good scrub before I hit the beach or a night out to make my skin pop. Dead skin be gone. Like bye Felicia. Beautiful glowing skin all the way.
Do you dry brush? I just started and I’m loving it. Dry brushing is exactly like it sounds. You brush your skin in a particular direction with a dry brush, usually before having a shower. The skin is typically brushed toward the heart, starting at the feet and hands and brushing towards the chest. The benefits of dry brushing are:
- It helps stimulate lymph flow within the body and helps the body detoxify itself naturally.
- Removes dead skin cells by exfoliating the skin.
- Increases circulation therefore increases energy and blood flow.
- Treats cellulite
After you’ve removed all that dead skin off your bod, it’s now time to hydrate that beautiful skin. I’ve been moisturizing my skin daily pretty much since birth. I can remember being 2 years old and my mother carrying me out of the bath and immediately lotion~ing me up. I love the Jason line for lotions. The Coconut option is my fav. It’s so thick and goes on so smooth. It might not be for you if you like light moisturizers, but I love to lay it on thick. The Softening Cocoa Butter is so good and smells yummy too.
I love this coconut body oil for days when I hit the beach. Monoi Tiare Tahiti is a unique blend of coconut oil and tiare flowers (Tahitian gardenia). There’s an actual tiare flower in each bottle. It smells amazing and is so tropical. It will have you glowing on the beach.
So those are all my beauty skincare favs. Hope you’ve got some finds you’d like to try and get your glow on.
